Service Work

Steel deck is a cold formed corrugated steel that is held up by joists or beams. Developed to be an efficient alternative to support concrete or insulating membrane of a roof. Steel deck has a high strength to weight ratio resulting in structural framing costs that are often lower than alternative systems.

With varying rib widths and depths steel deck can be highly customizable, and it has a consistent and uniform quality as a result of continuously refined production techniques. With the properly specified factory and field coatings, steel deck is easy to maintain, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.

Service Studs

Shear studs are used to make steal beams composite and enhance their load capacity. The longitudinal shear connection between the steel section and the concrete is provided by shear connectors, which normally take the form of studs welded to the top of the steel section.

The shear flow, or sliding between two parallel internal surfaces, between steel beam and reinforced concrete deck slab is a natural consequence of the requirement composite action. If there were no connection, a beam and slab would bend dramatically and cause an unsafe infrastructure. The presence of a shear connection prevents the slip between the two components and achieves a much stiffer and stronger beam.
